History
Trafton School, established in 1888 when Washington was still a territory, is one of the oldest continually operating public schools in the state. Although the original schoolhouse was lost to a fire, the current building, constructed in 1912, stands as a historic landmark in a rural setting. The school retains much of its original architecture, including a bronze school bell housed in an open cupola on the roof. Trafton is listed on both the National Register of Historic Places and the Washington Heritage Register, and it has been recognized with a Snohomish County Historic Preservation Commission Award for its cultural significance.
